Reflections on a Memorable Book Signing at NCoBC 2024

A Sponsored Post With MOLLI Surgical

In March 2024, I was invited to attend the National Consortium of Breast Centers Annual Conference  with the MOLLI Surgical Team. Not only would I learn from some fantastic speakers, but I would also be signing books for conference attendees, courtesy of MOLLI Surgical! And, to top it off, the conference was held at the Paris Hotel (and you know how much I love French things…)

So, in one weekend, I would travel to Paris (Las Vegas), sign books, and learn about the latest in breast cancer care.

Yes, please!

I’ll be sharing my detailed reflections on the conference reflection in a series of three posts.

Book Signing at the MOLLI Surgical Booth

NCoBC 2024 would be my first official book signing! I was nervous and excited. What would it be like to sit and talk about my book for several hours at a time?

It was amazing! Everyone who came to the booth was well acquainted with DCIS and understood why I wrote the book. They were enthusiastic about taking this book back to their breast cancer centers and sharing it with their patients and teams. When they learned that MOLLI Surgical provided the books, it opened up the opportunity to talk about the other educational resources in the H.O.P.E. program and Breast Practices.

Signing Books for Breast Practices Guests

I even had the opportunity to sign books for past guests of Breast Practices.

This was particularly meaningful since I had enjoyed chatting with them on their shows, and it was the first time I had met some of them in person.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to spend time with Jennifer Tatum, who coordinates the H.O.P. E. Program through MOLLI Surgical. She and I work closely with each other to plan each episode of Breast Practices and are both breast cancer survivors.

Appreciating Our Medical Team

As I took the time to write each note inside the book, I reflected on how many people are involved in caring for us during and after our breast cancer journeys. I signed books for radiologists, nurse navigators, patient advocates, breast cancer survivors, physician assistants, and surgeons.

It truly takes a team to care for us, and all of these conference attendees spent their weekend learning how to improve our patient experience.

The moments spent at the booth, signing books, and connecting were highlights of the weekend. I left, dreaming of the next opportunity I might have to do something similar.

Jennifer is the author of "A Breast Cancer Journey: Living it One Step at a Time," breast cancer survivor, and patient advocate. Her book, published in 2023 by Bold Story Press, is an encouraging guide for breast cancer patients. It contains first-hand information, organized by topics, to help readers navigate the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery from breast cancer. Her writing emphasizes emotional, mental, and physical well-being along with empowered decision-making.
