My Favorite Post-Lumpectomy Bra (even years after breast cancer)
After placing another order for my absolute favorite post-lumpectomy bra, I decided it was time to share it with you! I have purchased and enjoyed the Molly Plunge Bra from AnaOno since 2019. I still reach for this bra several times a week, even though it’s been years since my last lumpectomy.
This isn’t a sponsored post, though it might read like one because of how much I love this bra. Here is an affiliate link to the bra, so if you decide to buy one, you’ll also be supporting my blog (thank you!). You can read more about my affiliate link policy here.
It has been several years since my first lumpectomy for DCIS in 2019, and I still wear my Molly Plunge Bra every week. This bra is excellent for lumpectomy recovery, radiation treatment, and life after breast cancer. In fact, you might like it even if you’ve never had breast cancer. Really, it’s that good!
Five Reasons the Molly Plunge Bra is My Favorite Post-Lumpectomy Bra
- Comfort
- Traditional Shape
- Very Adjustable
- Excellent color options
- High Quality
#1: Comfort
When walking through our surgical recovery (and radiation), we have sensitive skin to protect. Rough seams, bras that are too tight, and scratchy fabric will make everything more uncomfortable. I quickly discovered that I needed a bra that would help me feel better, not pinch me and make me feel worse.
After my initial lumpectomy recovery, I hoped to go back to wearing my lacy and beautiful bras. I was so disappointed when I realized that the underwire was too uncomfortable to wear, and the lace was scratchy on my sensitive skin.
I didn’t discover the Molly Plunge Bra until my radiation treatment in 2019. It was made of super-soft fabric, and the seams were wrapped, so nothing was scratchy. The fabric glided over my raw skin and actually made me feel better.
I wrote a more extensive post about wearing this bra for radiation here.
The Molly Plunge Bra is comfortable to wear all day, and I love it!
#2: Traditional Shape
I was tired of wearing sports bras, especially since they didn’t have a traditional shape. Often, the racerback style meant that the straps showed, which is something I try to avoid. Also, I needed something that was adjustable to accommodate my changing band size and inconsistent cup size after treatment.
The Molly Plunge Bra ended up being the perfect post-lumpectomy bra for me. Putting it on felt like heaven, and it was the ideal shape to wear under everything! While it isn’t lacy, it does have a very cute bow in the front that I adore. It is just the right touch of femininity and makes me smile when I put it on.
This bra has a traditional back closure, which might be a challenge right after surgery. I pivoted to this bra a few weeks after my 2022 lumpectomy when I was more comfortable moving around.
#3: Very Adjustable
Another reason I love this bra is that it is really adjustable, so I can always find just the right size. There are four hook adjustments for your band size, so I was always able to find a good band size for me.
The shoulder straps are fully adjustable, unlike some bras, which limit the amount you can adjust the height of the straps.
Our breasts may not be the same size after treatment. We need flexibility to accommodate different cup sizes, prosthetics, or breast forms. This bra has you covered! The Molly Plunge Bra (and almost all of AnaOno’s bras) are pocketed and come with modesty pads. You can also insert breast forms or prostheses if desired. Additionally, the modal fabric has a nice stretch, so it always fits just right.
#4: Excellent Color Options
One of the problems I quickly discovered with sports bras is that they come in colors that aren’t practical for my everyday wardrobe. I want colors that work under all my clothes, not simply my workout t-shirts. (Neon green really isn’t my vibe)
AnaOno is known for offering a combination of practical and fun colors. Some of their color options are limited runs, while others are more timeless.
As of this writing, four colors are available: Slate (a blue), Sand, Black, and Ivory.
In my collection, I have two Sand bras for my light-colored tops and two black ones. I’m really excited about the new blue one I just ordered recently!
I never have an issue with the sand bra showing under my white shirts. I appreciate the classic color options available and always put a black and sand-colored Molly Bra in my suitcase when I travel.
#5: High Quality
AnaOno bras are high-quality and will last you long after your recovery period. Last weekend, I noticed a sale, so I decided to replace a couple of my Molly Plunge Bras.
As I looked through my orders to find out when I last bought them, I realized that all of the Molly Plunge Bras were several years old! I stared at them in shock and realized they still looked brand new (other than some persistent sweat stains on the lighter-colored bras). The elastic still worked, the fabric had no loose threads, and they were just as soft.
These bras are built to last! While the initial cost might be higher than other options, if you take care of them, you’ll be able to enjoy them for many years.
I wash them in a mesh bag on cold and then hang them to dry. Once they are dry, I do end up needing to fuss with the modesty pads to arrange them just so in the pocket.
AnaOno can also work with your medical insurance to help you with reimbursement. You can read more about this option on their website.
AnaOno runs sales around the holidays, especially during Black Friday. If you are interested but want to wait for a sale, you can subscribe to their mailing list or follow them on Instagram.
I can’t wait for my new bras to arrive so I can retire the ones I’ve apparently had for over four years (yikes)
Did I mention these bras are high quality? (And perhaps I might keep my clothes for a long time?)
As you can tell by this gushing post, I really love my Molly Plunge Bras from AnaOno. They are so soft, comfortable, and well-fitting. I love that they look and feel like a “regular” bra and not a “post-surgery” bra. If you are looking for a bra to add to your collection after your lumpectomy, give the Molly Plunge Bra from AnaOno a try!
My favorite post-lumpectomy bra is also my favorite bra to wear every day!
